Services are 10:00 AM Sunday

The Dighton Community Church is a non-denominational and non-affliated independent  church founded in 1770 here on Elm Street in Dighton.   Our church has great respect for people of all Christian faith backgrounds and celebrates in a traditional worship style on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM.  All are warmly welcome.

Words from the Pastor

Greetings and Welcome to our Website,

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the great people of the Dighton Community Church.   This is a historical church with deep roots in the soil of American history.  One visit to our church and you will find out what I mean. The building  was built in 1770 and restored in 1936.   You are transported back in time to the founding of our country;  remove the electric lights and you are in 1770.

The uniqueness of the building does not mean that we are not an active alive faith community.  We have a deeply caring an loving congregation.   My Sunday messages are both biblical and practical within the tradition of the  historical Christian faith.   We have begun mid-week Bible studies and are in the process of starting a youth ministry.

God has blessed us greatly and we hope that we can be a blessing to you!

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.  1 Corinthians 15

Pastor Dave

A few words about our minister, who has been with us since April 2008:  Pastor Dave was raised in Needham with two younger brothers and a sister.  His mother still lives in East Dennis.  After high school, he went to Westfield State, graduating in 1976 with a degree in elementary education.  He worked as a youth pastor from 1974-78 at the First Congregational Church in West Springfield.  Dave graduated from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon in 1981.  His master's thesis was entitled: "The Impact of Youth Ministry on Self-Esteem."  He was the youth minister of South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham for five years, and then first the youth minister, later the senior pastor, of the Medway Community Church for 13 years.  He took several youth trips to the Caribbean and also coached several teams at Medway High School during his tenure in that community.

Stewart Painting Company, specializing in interior and exterior residential work,  came into being in 2001 and currently employs four enthusiastic men.
Dave has three daughters and seven grandchildren; Helen, his wife, has two daughters.  Raised in Harrington Harbor, Quebec, she is an operating room nurse. .

This is one of Dave's favorite poems:

The Man In The Glass

Peter Dale Wimbrow Sr.

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest
For he’s with you, clear to the end
And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
